“All
documentary work is local.”—Tom Rankin, director of
the Center for Documentary Studies
The Center for Documentary Studies (CDS), located on the edge of
the Duke University campus, is much more than a traditional educational
center. Through diverse programming and active community engagement,
CDS offers opportunities for participation by people of all ages,
backgrounds, and levels of expertise. Open seven days a week, with
exhibitions in its galleries and numerous courses and other activities
year-round, CDS invites you to join the documentary community today.
The best way to get involved at the Center for Documentary Studies
is to support the documentary arts. This is easy to do, by making
a contribution through Friends of CDS.
Through their contributions, Friends of CDS help to support the
Center for Documentary Studies, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
affiliated with Duke University.
Because the founders of the Center for Documentary Studies envisioned
an organization that would bridge campus and community life, CDS
was established as neither an academic department nor a traditional
university educational center. Rather, CDS functions as an independent
not-for-profit organization, with its own budget and fundraising
goals.
As you consider your contribution to Friends of CDS, we would greatly
appreciate your support at the highest level possible.
